To say you get to hang out with one of the cutest babies in the room is one thing, to do that for your career is entirely a different category. With a background in Pediatric and NICU nursing, you would think I’m very used to hanging out with cute babies, and if you think that, you’d be correct. But I will say, from a photographer’s perspective, it is an entirely different source of joy to hang out with adorable newborns while getting to create and define fresh, timeless, authentic memories through imagery for the family the baby has just joined. In order to tell this story properly, let’s start at the beginning.
My family welcomed its newest member, a sweet niece Penelope Jo born on my husband’s birthday! Honestly, no one was more excited about welcoming this sweet girl on his birthday than the birthday man himself. It is something these two will forever share – what a special bond! This nearly 7 1/2 pound bundle of cuteness has the most adorable lips, nose, and eyes you’ve ever seen, and her cute long body and round head complement her full look. I cannot wait to get to know Penny, as her parents are affectionately calling her, better over years to come.
Penny’s older sister, Mabel, is one of the proudest I’ve seen! The way she loves Penny is “an intense love” as her mom said while Mabel very seriously yet gently squished their faces together to give her more kisses on the bed. It was so sweet to watch Mabel transition into this role, as she will continue doing for years to come. The lifestyle and baby-led posing throughout the session allowed for a few breakout sessions of the full family together, both mom and dad individually with Penny and big sis Mabel with Penny as well.
In this season, I hope between the exhaustion that having a newborn can bring to a new family, Ryan and Jordan are able to look back with gratitude and thanks for the new dynamic Penny introduced into their family. I pray these images of her tiny details like her newborn lips, lashes, and toes will be ingrained into their memories forever, and that they will always have these images to come back to! Thank you, Penny, for gracing us with your presence earth-side! We truly love you.
