I saw their hashtag and had this fairly girly moment in my head thinking, “awww!” With the last name Storry, Kymberli and Scott settled on #StorryBookWedding and I’m so excited they’ve chosen me to capture it all for them! Kymberli and Scott are easy friends, partners, and soon-to-be husband and wife. After 17 years of a friendship and long-term dating, they’ve decided to tie the knot this spring at The Secret Garden in Phoenix!
To set the stage, we chose “a controlled area of the desert” as Kymberli referenced it so that we had the beautiful backdrops and variety without risking the snames and any other creepy crawler. When Kymberli told me her ideal backdrop, I got so excited because Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix, AZ is where I shot the first wedding I ever captured. It was such a blast to be back in an area I’d used before with the ability to see it differently after several weddings and engagement sessions!
To make things even better, it was the Chihuly Exhibit within the gardens, meaning the blown glass was sprinkled throughout the scenery. While it did make the location a little more crowded, I loved putting on my creativity hat and using an overall vision to capture the scenery in new ways.
As I was prepping this sweet couple, I began making small talk with Scott. I was surprised to learn he was retiring the very next day…that is, until Kymberli let me know he was simply being facetious. After that, he didn’t stop cracking jokes and keeping both of us laughing so sincerely throughout our time together. I’m so glad we were able to have a little time together before my third baby makes an appearance. Kymberli and Scott, I hope you love your images and cherish them forever! It was such an honor to capture this season of engagement for y’all!
