Maybe this title is a bit misleading. The proposal was a very successful surprise to the bride-to-be, however, it was planned thoroughly by Carter, the groom-to-be, with the help of immediate family members. And what a surprise it was for Sydney, who was proposed to by Carter on the 18th hole at Chiricahua Golf Course at Desert Mountain.
Even Sydney’s dad and sister had important roles as they were instructed to play through the last hole and leave a club out on the green so Carter and Sydney had reason to meander over and pick it up from the clubhouse. As they walked down the cart path, I ducked into the bush where I was hiding. My camera at the ready, I waited for them to make their way onto the green, where I knew Carter had arranged for a ball to be hidden in the cup with the question, “Will you marry me?”
As far as proposals go, this one was Genius level, especially with the moving parts involved and how many people were able to keep the secret from Sydney. And for that, I say job well done, Carter, you should be very proud of yourself!
I clicked in rapid fire, waiting for Sydney’s YES and knew Carter had gotten it when he lifted her from the ground, spinning her in the air. The sweetest proposal, followed by the sweetest moment, was then followed with some immediate family images and an engagement session for Sydney and Carter to celebrate their new season!
Now that the secret is out, I’m so excited for these two to be celebrating their engagement together. After all, with such a master planner in Carter, their wedding plans should already be coming along quite nicely, I imagine! Sydney and Carter, thank you so much for trusting me with such a precious moment as this. I hope you love and cherish your images for years to come, and they bring you right back to your feels when you look at them time after time!
