“We felt so awkward in front of the camera. Even our eyes were open at times they should have been closed.” This was one of the first things Jaime and Charlie told me regarding their proposal photos set up in New York during their previous surprise proposal and engagement session that day. I knew from this statement how critical it would be to prove this sweet couple wrong: that they were not awkward in front of a camera and that taking photos can be fun!
I met them in a cozy little seating area of the Scottsdale resort lobby. They both smiled and gave me a hug upon meeting. One thing I knew right away, these were the kind of people that felt like immediate friends. Walking downstairs, I knew I was going to ask them to do a few things that weren’t natural in a hotel lobby – like walk sideways across the staircase. Yet, I’m so glad I did! The photos, which I knew would be stunning just looking at them, came alive with character and spunk!
The three of us twirled, walked, and laughed our way through the lobby areas while I demonstrated some posing for them, and they followed suit. It was a blast to mix up my usual desert scenery with more urban, or a swankier vibe of photos. Keeping that awkward comment in mind, I knew they were wrong when I showed them the back of my camera! These two just glowed together.
Jaime and Charlie, thank you for keeping me laughing all throughout our time together. I hope you absolutely love your final images and can’t wait to serve y’all again on the day of your wedding! 🙂
