Any excuse to be creative, I’m going to take it. This is the first home we’ve been in where I’ve really pieced together one room at a time. Up next is our room! But for now, it was MJ’s turn for a room makeover, and I am loving how it turned out! Below, you’ll find photos of the big room reveal…here’s the story for how everything came together. 🙂
I had so much fun working on this project with the help (and patience!) of the hubs, Jordan. I don’t know how many times I made him look at blush velvet curtains until I found the *perfect* pair, but it deserves being noted here. The color scheme of MJ’s room is blush, gray, and rose gold. The soft, feminine, timeless feel makes it perfect for the room to grow with her. Sprinkled throughout are elements created just for her.
The dresser was the “big project”. Donated to us by my Sister-in-Law, we took the dresser from my mom’s teenage years, and gave it a facelift. The once dark wood with brass hardware became a delicate white with rose gold hardware, and I could not be more pleased with it. Additionally, we purchased a rug and long window curtains to make it feel homier. Other pieces in her room include her white crib, a large white armoir, and a khaki colored swivel chair. For the footrest of the chair, I purchased a bean bag stool and added a blanket for a cozy feel in the corner.
Being a small business owner, I did my best to shop from small shops, like Caden Lane for her personalized blanket, Adoren Studio Rounds for the beautiful sign above her bed, and Cuddle + Kind for the handmade doll on her floating shelves. The Cuddle + Kind doll was a splurge, but my favorite purchase because each doll purchased from the organization delivers 10 meals for children in need, and the mission of the fair trade organization hires and employs women artisans in Peru to provide them with a stable income.
Throughout MJ’s room, the blush accents welcome the eye into the space, and coordinate well with the rose gold pops and the grey sprinkled in. I absolutely love how it came out. It just may be my favorite room in the house!
