Isn’t it so nice in life when you meet a couple you just absolutely adore? As if there is any other option regarding Donnelle and Josh. Their bubbly energy together is vivacious and heartwarming. It’s the sweetest thing to witness their giddiness, like in the “giggle kiss”, for example, just so fresh and natural!

“My parents are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary, and I know having a photographer is important. I think my sister is going to be proposed to, can you come document this for us?”, Whitney, Donnelle’s sister wrote in her email to me. Ummmmm, yes, I was screaming inside. Surprise proposals, for couples and wedding photographers, is a DREAM to photograph. I was already doing a happy dance, and the proposal hadn’t even started yet.

When I pulled up, I couldn’t help but notice the serenity inside. Here was the patio filled with people Donnelle and Josh love the most, all anticipating this incredibly exciting unspoken milestone about to happen. And I was in on it! (Eeeek!)

During our last couples’ session of the evening, featuring Donnelle and Josh, Josh slid over to his right a step, carefully hiding the ring box next to his side. I posed Donnelle first, making sure she had her eyes closed in order to not see the ring. Just as Josh bent to get down on one knee, the ring box made its first appearance to Donnelle, who immediately put her hands to her mouth. Josh’s proposal was intimate and sweet, as the family members gathered in the side yard to witness the events. Donnelle later told me she blacked out during this moment, but Josh and I assured her she had said yes at just the right time!

The sweetest proposal, followed by many laughs and hugs were had by all. The celebration then began and Donnelle and Josh were met with eager excitement from family. As a photographer, this was easily a Top 5 moment for me! I’ll never forget the look on Donnelle and Josh’s face as they beamed with love for one another and walked hand-in-hand to their season of engagement. Donnelle and Josh, I hope you LOVE your photos and thank you so much for trusting me to capture such an amazing time in your lives! Now if only I can convince you to come back and get married in Arizona… 😉
