My focus for 2021 was really the transition of shooting anything and everything to leaving one area behind at a time that I just didn’t love as much as the others. For me, that meant leaving behind newborn lifestyle and family sessions first. While I will still shoot a newborn lifestyle session for very close family or friends, it is not something I actively seek to book. Additionally, beginning in 2022, my space for families on my calendar will be more limited as I move strictly into wedding and senior photography!
I absolutely love this from a personal and business perspective because it really allows me to offer a high-end luxury experience in both of these areas without sacrificing time at home to be a wife and mama, my two favorite titles by far. From a business perspective, I am able to hone in on my couples’ needs and my seniors’ needs prior to those needs being expressed as well as create a luxury booking and client experience for them from start to finish. This transition also allowed me to take off with my Senior Spokesmodel experience a year earlier (!!) than anticipated, and I am so thankful it happened this way.
All the couples I’ve worked with, and the weddings I’ve had the privilege to document are just icing on the cake. It means the absolute world to me that my couples trust me enough to capture such sweet and sentimental moments for them to remember the rest of their lives. I hope the impact I have on my couples goes far beyond the wedding day, and is an influence in their day-to-day marriage as well. The wedding is absolutely a beautiful part of a marriage but it is not the only part of a marriage, and I hope by instilling my couples with hope for the future in any small way I can they know how much they have to look forward to past the bridals, “I do’s”, and decorations.
2021, it has been such an amazing ride into (nearly) full time wedding photography, and I cannot wait to see how this continues to play out in future years. If you missed more of my business side of things, view that here in Best of 2021: Portraits. Also be sure to check out my weddings link at the top to see any one of these weddings in more depth! I’m thankful for all of those who have believed this hard in me and gotten me to this point, but mostly for my couples who have chosen me to photograph their days and stand by their sides while they said, “I Do.” It is not a commitment I take lightly and I do realize the true value it is for me to be there with you, so thank you for everything, and here’s to many more years of love to come!
